Australian deep-tech breakthrough Plotlogic named Cleantech Company of the Year for Asia-Pacific

Plotlogic, a global leader in ore characterization, has been named Cleantech Group’s Company of the Year for the Asia-Pacific for its significant progress in championing sustainable innovation.

The award has been announced as part of the 2024 Global Cleantech 100, a list of the most innovative and promising companies taking the world closer to net-zero targets.

Plotlogic founder and CEO Dr Andrew Job said he was very proud to accept the Global Cleantech award on behalf of the Plotlogic team at the 15th annual awards dinner.

“I developed the company’s proprietary OreSense® technology with the firm belief that mining should be able to generate the resources society needs without harming the planet,” Dr Job said.

“Plotlogic is now actively contributing to the pursuit of a net zero future by enabling mines to extract every vestige of value right now in an environmentally sensitive way and the Cleantech award is a fitting testament to these efforts.

“It’s also exciting to be mentioned alongside other top innovative companies from across the world making significant contributions to a cleaner future.”

Plotlogic has seen increasing adoption of OreSense® product due to escalating pressure on the mining industry to confront its most formidable challenge to date: providing the essential critical minerals required for clean energy while avoiding repetition of past environmental harm, while also being cost effective.

Additionally, amid the sudden price squeeze on key critical minerals such as lithium and nickel this week, OreSense®enables miners to operate more efficiently.

Major miners using Plotlogic’s deep-tech platform include BHP, South32 and lithium producer Pilbara Minerals as well Stargate, one of Indonesia's largest nickel mining enterprises.

“The feedback from our customers is that we are delivering on that vision. They describe using our tech as a game changer - like swapping a hacksaw for a scalpel - enabling them to mine more selectively, efficiently and sustainably.”

CEO of Cleantech Group Richard Youngman said of the winners: “These innovative companies are driving positive change and are at the forefront of enabling the global transition to a more sustainable future

“They remind us that transformative solutions are continuing to make remarkable progress around the world.”

As well as being named Company of the Year for the Asia-Pacific, Plotlogic was recognised by Mr Youngman as enabling more efficient and environmentally sensitive mining of critical minerals.

The Global Cleantech 100 honour backs up a highly successful 2023 for Plotlogic, with the company completing a $US28 million Series B funding round. The round was co-led by US venture capital heavyweights Galvanize Climate Solutions and SE Ventures, the investing firm backed by French energy and automation giant Schneider Electric. Main Sequence Ventures, the VC arm of national science agency the CSIRO, also participated. A significant portion of the funds are being strategically allocated to expand the Brisbane-based company’s operations in North America and Indonesia.
