Australian startup gets $25m to improve solution that helps miners increase output, reduce waste

Australian deep-tech mining startup Plotlogic is on track to continue developing its OreSense technology, which helps mine operators increase output and reduce waste by identifying the location and material properties of every rock in their mine. According to the company, by making the mining process more precise, its technology also has the potential to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

BHP turns VC to back mining AI star’s $25m round

Mining giant BHP and former Google chief executive Eric Schmidt’s Innovation Endeavours have tipped $25 million into Brisbane-based Plotlogic, whose AI scanning technology powered the five-year life extension at BHP’s massive Yandi iron ore mine in Western Australia last year. The series A round, first flagged by The Australian Financial Review’s Street Talk, marks the first Australian investment for Innovation Endeavours, which is joined on the investor register by angel investors DCVC, Baidu Ventures and GRID Ventures.
